A Toolbox for Real-time Subject-independent and Subject-dependent Classification of Brain States from fMRI Signals
Published in Frontiers in Neuroscience, October 2013

We developed MANAS – a software toolbox for online and offline classification of fMRI signals for neuroscience investigations and brain rehabilitation. It offers subject-dependent and subject-independent classification, and the article presents the methodology, software architecture, subsystems, and experimental results. MANAS provides a valuable tool for analyzing and classifying fMRI signals in real time for various neuroscience applications.

Population-based Pattern Classification of Emotional Brain States using fMRI Signals
Poster presented at the 2012 Annual Meeting of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping, Beijing, China

Poster presented at the 1st Swiss real-time fMRI Neurofeedback Conference 2012 in Zurich, Switzerland.

Previous methods for decoding brain states were optimized for each participant, but a subject-independent classifier could be useful for clinical rehabilitation. This study demonstrates a subject-independent real-time pattern classifier and assesses if healthy participants can learn to self-regulate their emotional brain network based on feedback.

A Fingerprint Reader Device with Bi-Directional Communication via Phone Audio Jack

Application no: 1521/KOL/2011, Filed in India on December 3rd, 2011

The invention is a fingerprint reader device that captures and sends the user’s fingerprint data to a companion electronic device via an audio output jack. The system enables secure transactions and can be used with mobile phones, computers, PDAs, etc. It also includes bi-directional communication, where the companion device sends information to the fingerprint reader. The device has the potential for wide-scale use in various security operations.

A Mobile Magnetic Stripe Card Reader for Secure Payments via Phone Audio Jack

Application no: 1522/KOL/2011, Filed in India on December 3rd, 2011

The invention is a card reader for reading magnetic stripe data from a card, designed to be used with electronic devices such as phones or computers. The card reader converts the data signal into digital form, processes it, and sends useful information to the companion device through an audio output jack. Bi-directional communication is possible, with the companion device sending information back to the card reader through its audio output line.
A Vehicle Pollution Control Device based on Electrostatic Precipitation

Application no: 0055/KOL/2011, Filed in India on January 13th, 2011

Developed a vehicular pollution control device using a Van de Graaff generator to generate high voltage and an electrostatic precipitator to remove tiny exhaust particles. The product received Gold prizes in several national competitions, including the Business Plan, Product Design, and Technical Paper competitions organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Summit and the annual tech fest Kshitij of IIT Kharagpur in 2011.
